Facebook Canvas

Facebook announced today its international release of Canvas, an immersive, full-screen mobile advertisement experience that is said to load “nearly instantaneously” when the user taps on a Facebook News Feed ad.

Facebook said it built Canvas in collaboration with ad agencies as well as the brands themselves to achieve their marketing objective. This is done by Facebook giving them a fully customizable canvas on which they could create an interactive, multimedia stories to sell whatever they’re selling. Advertisers can use a combination of images, photos, text, videos, and even call-to-action buttons, to attract users with their attractive and (hopefully) effective ads on mobile devices.

Here are some of the other benefits Facebook Canvas offers (as told by Facebook’s representatives):

  • Native: Since Canvas is built within Facebook, it will give ads a native experience, and as a result, loads up to 10 times faster than standard mobile web ads;
  • Fully-customizable space: Since it’s an open “canvas”, advertisers can build ads using a combination of images, photos, text, videos, and even call-to-action buttons;
  • Available internationally: As of today, advertisers can already start building their Canvas advertisements;
  • Spaces for everyone: Facebook Canvas is said to be very easy to pick up, with no code of software skills required. The ads work on Facebook apps for Android and iOS.

There are a few examples of Facebook Canvas ads we’re unable to embed here, but you can view those videos over at: https://www.facebook.com/business/news/introducing-canvas.
