ASUS Malaysia will soon have an online store for consumers to purchase its devices without leaving home. The store follows other ASUS e-commerce sites that have been operational for a while now.

The site for the ASUS Store has already gone up but consumers can’t buy anything yet. It’s more of a preview of things to come and to the way it will look as well as operate. At the moment, the store is only showing off Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 product line. ASUS is also showing off both the price and the colours that are available for each version. This should help alleviate the annoying scalpers problem at those pop-up grey outlets; where uninformed buyers are sold grey imports at a much higher price than an ASUS authorised.

Here are the list of devices available in the store along with its colour options:

  • Zenfone 4 (A400CXG) – Priced at RM 299 with White, Red, and Blue colours available. (Black, and Yellow marked as coming soon)
  • Zenfone 5 (A501CG) – Priced at RM 519 with Black, Red, and Gold colours available. (White, and Purple coming soon)
  • Zenfone 6 (A601CG) – Priced at RM 699 with only the Red colour option available. (Black, White, and Gold coming soon)

As I mentioned, the site is not fully operational yet but those who are interested can create a profile to get ready for the real thing. I had also attempted to make a purchase to see how things went but unfortunately, I went only as far as registering for an account and then adding both my phone plus my shipping details. For credit card purchases, the secure transaction option has not gone online yet and this is where my ‘buying’ spree came to a premature end. ASUS does have an extensive FAQ section but I was still not able to find out about the shipment charges, the delivery time, and I still don’t know if there’s a minimum purchase amount. I sure hope all of these are sorted out beforehand.

I would also like to point out that upon registering for an account, ASUS will also request for verification via an email. Once confirmed, users can choose to proceed to buy or add info to the profile. I was not aware that when I registered for the store, I was actually registering for an ASUS account, that will be linked to an online storage facility and to other ASUS products. I would have prefered an indication at least.

For purchases, it looks like the site will be able to accept locally issued credit or debit cards from Visa and MasterCard for now but there’s no mention about other online payment options like PayPal. Another interesting thing that I noticed was the presence of the ‘Cash on Delivery’ payment option (but this will not be available for pre-order items). This should be great for those who do not like to pay online or do not own a credit card.

The ASUS Store is will be officially launched on the 3rd of December, which is less than a week away. I hope there will be other offers when it starts to take orders as currently, the Singapore store is giving away free selfi sticks for purchases. Hopefully, ASUS Malaysia will wow its fans here.
