Samsung Galaxy S7 edge pre-order by Maxis

Though the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (RRP of RM3,099) will only be launched in Malaysia on March 18th, the pre-order mania has already begun. Maxis today opened up its own pre-order for the S7 edge, and though it doesn’t have the sweet 20%/15% discount Samsung Malaysia Electronics was/is offering to the first 1,000 / next 2,000 customers, Maxis is offering an equally attractive free gift, and this one doesn’t seem to get sold out as fast. Subscribers who pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge bundled with MaxisONE plan 158, 188, Share 158, or Share 188, get to receive a free Samsung Gear S2 classic edition with a Platinum case and a Black Genuine Leather band. This Gear S2 is worth RM1,899, and is not to be confused with the baseline Gear S2 (in Dark Gray and Silver) priced at RM1,399, and the Gear S2 classic (in Black) price at RM1,599.

Just because this offer is still available at the time of writing, doesn’t mean it’s not going to go away soon. After all, we have another 10 days until the phone officially launches. Maxis did not specify exactly how many Gear S2 classic Platinum watches it has, so if you’re a MaxisONE subscriber and are already planning to get the S7 edge, act now.

Just like any carrier bundling, the S7 edge is yours through Maxis only if you get one of its MaxisONE plans; the MaxisONE plan 158 (RM158/month) or MaxisONE plan 188 (RM188/month) to be precise. Both offers unlimited calls and text messages to all networks, with 5GB and 7GB monthly data quotas, respectively. MaxisONE plan 188 gets additional 1GB free for the first six months.

However, if you’re not interested in the Gear S2 classic Platinum in the slightest, Maxis also has an option to get the S7 edge without the smartwatch, and this one is available for MaxisONE plan 98 and MaxisONE plan 128 too.

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge through Maxis Zerolution

Naturally, Maxis Zerolution is also available for the Galaxy S7 edge. Zerolution is a way to easily “own” a flagship device bundled with MaxisONE, with monthly installment-like payments. For the S7 edge in particular, you’ll be tied to a 24-month contract, for an additional RM114 per month (on top of the MaxisONE plan bill). If you want the to swap to a new Maxis Zerolution phone next year, add an additional RM30 per month. For the Premium Protection plan (that covers, cracks, accidental damage, and theft), that’s another RM23 per month.

Maxis said that there is a one-time “downgrade fee” of RM1,000 for the Gear S2 classic Platinum watch, should you choose to terminate the Zerolution contract, change to a non-eligible plan, or downgrade to MaxisONE plan 98/128.

Interestingly, if you’re not keen on going for the Zerolution ownership plan, the S7 edge is available through Maxis for RM2,923.58, but of course, you’ll still have to bundle it with one of the MaxisONE plans.
