Apple, on April 19th, refreshes its 12-inch MacBook line to offer a newer and faster processor, as well as a new color option. The laptop succeeds the earlier 12-inch MacBook though it retains the same dimensions. The refresh brought about a sixth-generation Intel “Skylake” Core M processor. The base Intel Core m3 model goes for RM5,499, while the Core m5 variant will set you back RM6,699.
The new color mentioned is, of course, Rose Gold. Previously the MacBook only comes in Gold, Silver, and Space Gray. With Rose Gold, the MacBook now has the same color options as the latest iPhones.
The said upgraded processors are Intel Core m3 and Core m5. The dual-core Core m3 model is clocked at 1.1 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.2 GHz, with an 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB PCIe-based solid-state drive (SSD), and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 515.
Meanwhile, the dual-core Core m5 variant has a clock speed of 1.2 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.7 GHz. It retains the same Intel HD Graphics 515 GPU and 8 GB RAM, but the PCIe-based SSD storage is doubled at 512 GB.

Apparently, there is another configure-to-order option which is a 1.3 GHz Intel Core m7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz).
While it’s still using an integrated graphics, the new 12-inch MacBook’s Intel HD Graphics 515 is said to be 25% faster than the older Intel HD Graphics 5300 GPU found on the previous 12-inch MacBook.
Battery life is now rated at 10 hours for web browsing, or 11 hours on continuous (offline) video playback. This is a slight upgrade over last year’s Macbook with a 9-hour battery life. However, it is still not as good as current 13-inch MacBook Air’s rated 12-hour battery, but then it is still better than many PCs out there.
